How is the swivel seat modified?

What is a swivel seat? The swivel seat is a barrier-free device designed specifically for the elderly, the disabled, wheelchair users and other people with limited mobility. It can help them get on and off the car, and to a certain extent solve their travel problems. 1. Modification position

First, let's talk about the modification position. At present, there are many models that have been modified with swivel seats, including sedans, SUVs, MPVs, etc., and the modification positions of different models are also different.

Generally speaking, MPV models such as Toyota Alpha, Buick GL8, Trumpchi M8, and Tengshi D9 are modified on the right side of the middle row. Because the middle row of MPV has a larger space, it is convenient for the seats to rotate without colliding with the body. In addition, the middle row of MPV is generally equipped with a side-pull sliding door, and the seats can go in and out directly, which is much more convenient for passengers and seat route programming. The reason for modifying on the right side instead of the left side is that there are vehicles on the left side, and the swivel seat will be extended and personnel assistance will occupy the lane for a long time, which is easy to cause accidents. This is also easy to understand. Modifying the swivel seat in the middle row of MPV is also the most modified and mainstream modification method at present.

 

The second is sedans and SUVs, which are generally modified in the co-pilot. The space of sedans and SUVs is much smaller than that of MPVs, and because they are straight-open doors, the seats need to be rotated to a larger angle to extend. Since the rear row is in a protruding position above the rear wheels, it hinders the rotation of the seats, and the trunk will also block the movement of the seats, so the front co-pilot is more suitable for modification.

 

Of course, the modification position is not fixed. There are also modification cases for the co-pilot and the left side of MPVs, and there are also modification cases for sedans in the back row. It still depends on the model and its own needs. Here is just a common and recommended modification method.

2. Seat selection

About 80% of customers choose to use the original car seats to modify the swivel seats. There are several reasons: 1. Spend less money. The original supporting seats of the swivel institution need to be purchased separately, and the price is not cheap. 2. It will not destroy the interior style. After the original car seats are modified, except for the height increase, the overall difference is almost invisible; and the original supporting seats have few styles and colors, which will not match the overall interior of the original car. After installation, it is easy to see that they have been modified.

 

Of course, some customers choose our original supporting seats. Some of them are because the original car seats are seriously damaged and need to be replaced. Some customers think that our supporting seats are very good and do not need additional modification. Both our supporting seats and the original car seats will not affect the function and normal use of the seats. You can choose according to your needs.

3. Modification process

This time, we take this SAIC Maxus Dajia 9, which was modified in the factory, as an example to show the whole modification process. This is a new energy medium and large MPV model with a wheelbase of 3200mm. The original car seats are used to modify the Xinder-tech swivel seats on the right side of the middle row.

1. Modify the original car seat   After removing the original car seat, disassemble it, separate the seat frame and modify the base. Use metal processing technology to redesign and make the bottom plate, and then firmly connect the bottom plate and the base frame by welding. Reassemble the seat after passing the safety test

2. Install the fixed bracket   Remove the long slide rail of the original car seat track and take out the bottom slide rail core. After inserting the slider to determine the approximate orientation, fix the universal fixed bracket on the track

3. Install the swivel mechanism   Install and fix the Xinder-tech swivel lifting mechanism on the fixed bracket

4. Wiring and testing     Arrange the wiring harness, arrange the circuit, connect the mechanism wiring harness with the original car regulator and other control systems, power on to test whether the mechanism is operating normally, and roughly determine the mechanism operation route

5. Install the original car seat    Install and fix the modified original car seat on the swivel lifting mechanism

6. Route programming     Perform route programming on the seat, set the parameters such as seat rotation angle, rotation rate, seat back automatic adjustment angle, extension distance, and drop height, and consider reserving safety space to ensure that passengers will not pinch their feet or hit their heads when using it.

7. Final test     After the route is programmed, the functionality and stability of the seat are tested to see if there are any abnormal conditions such as abnormal noise, shaking, body bumps, faults, etc., and whether the original car seat ventilation and heating, electric leg rest and other functions can operate normally. After passing the test, the installation is considered complete.

From the above process, it can be seen that the installation of the swivel seat is indeed very complicated, involving the disassembly and installation of the seat, seat modification, mechanism installation and debugging, route programming, circuit layout, etc., but if it is simply summarized in one sentence: after removing the original car seat, install the swivel mechanism at the bottom and then install it back.
